Contemporary Cuban Art

Juan Carlos Anzardo Escalona was born in Holguin, Cuba in 1951.  He graduated as a physicist at the University of Holguin.  He received his artistic education at the Academy of Arts “El Alba” in Holguin, Cuba between 1968-1970. He then studied physics while continuing his painting and evolving as an artist.  This combination led him to create art portraying the ideas of Theoretical Physics in an abstract style.
His abstract expressionist work shows influence of the Gestural movement and Tachism through his material painting. He is currently in search of the artistic relationship between Abstract Art and Science, giving numerous conferences and workshops regarding the subject nationwide.
His work has been exhibited in Spain, Canada, Argentina, Germany, Mexico and the USA.
